The Teaching

Intertwining aspects of Scandal and The Haves and Have Nots, JP will enter the worlds of several different Pastors and will try and restore order back into their lives and their church. Day in and Day The Teaching will visit the lives of three American families and how they deal with everyday trials and tribulations. Even the toughest families have their blessings and the perfect families have their secrets. 

Although this is an ensemble piece, JP is our leading protagonist. He is the Pastor of a fairly large congregation in Los Angeles and he is supported/ looked upon as a great leader, spiritual advisor, philanthropist, wonderful husband/father, and patriot. But what is his flaw? What is the one thing little to no individuals know about him that could crush his name for good? You’ll just have to read more to find out. 

JP found his Pastoral calling when he was about 23 years old and went with it ever since. He married a nurse (Faith) he met in the Army and they have two children together, Esther and Matthew. JP touched so many lives with this influential words from God that he decided to mold and mentor several young pastors so they (too) would create strong churches based the principals of God. The show begins, or sparks, however, when JP realizes several of the Pastors he has been ministering to, have lost sight of God’s plan for their lives. 

Middle son respects his family’s life in the ministry but he does not live by it. Joshua is at the prime of his life. He has a great career in the film industry and he enjoys living the fast life. Unmarried and with no children, JAREN is living his life to the fullest despite what his family objects. 

JP’s first lady is a retired nurse who met her husband when she was a volunteer nurse for the Army. Once she met JP, she knew it was love at first sight. Although sparks grew quickly between the two – both knew they served a duty to the military they did not want to give up yet. One day, JP was ministering to several soldiers and nurses at a local church and JP proposed to Faith on sight. Faith immediately accepted and they were in love ever since. 

Apart from being a Co-Pastor at their church, Faith runs a catering company where she caters for many special events and feeds the homeless every chance she receives. Faith and JP have two children – Esther and Matthew. She loves both her children, both who have accomplished several great things, but there is one huge secret about her child that Faith has been keeping from JP for years.

As a Pastor of a nice size church himself, Chris Lincoln runs the “ideal” American family and church.  Christian raised, Chris grew up with affluent parents who believed that education is paramount. He met his wife and JP when he was in college, and have been inseparable from them ever since.  Chris views JP as a mentor, as a man he respects and has learned so much from. JP is what made Chris the Pastor he is today and he is truly grateful for that. His wife, Sarah, supports Chris in every decision he makes and he loves her for that. 

Sarah and Chris’ son is an American patriot who tries to come home every chance he receives. He is a true believer in the American Dream and believes that his father is an amazing man and aspires to be just like him. He has been married to Abigail for three years and they have one child together.
